About Lucky for Life
The Lucky For Life lottery is a multi-state lottery in the United States currently being offered in 25 states. The Lucky For Life game evolved from Lucky-4-Life, which originated in Connecticut. The original format of the game was 4 numbers chosen from a pool of 39 numbers, and a bonus number chosen from a pool of 19 numbers, with the 4 being part of the name, Lucky-4-Life. Lucky-4-Life ran from April 2, 2009 to March 8, 2012.
On March 15, 2012, the Lucky for Life game began and became available in other states. The game has gone through a number of revisions over the years. Initially there were 5 numbers drawn from a pool of 40 numbers with a bonus number drawn from a pool of 21 numbers. In September 2013, both the number and bonus pools were change to pools of 43 numbers. This new format produced no top prize winners, so in January 2015, the draws were changed to the present state of 5 numbers drawn from a pool of 48, and a bonus number from a pool of 18.
On July 19, 2021 the game frequency changed from twice a week (Mondays and Thursday) to 7 days a week.
